Meeting George over 30 years ago in a pub in Peterborough Ontario was one of my favourite memories.  We became pen pals for years and I was able to visit him and meet his friends and parents (who made a very shy 18 year old girl feel very welcome in their home) in what was a pretty magical time for me.  We lost touch due to distance and life getting in the way but then came Facebook and he was one of the first people I reconnected with and we kept in touch ever since.  He was always wanting to hear how my son Toby was doing but really, it was for my dog Charlie that he was most curious about.  Anyone that knows George knows how much he loves dogs. Even though he was thousands of kilometers away, I always felt close to him..he'd sign off with "Love you to bits" and it breaks my heart that I won't hear his voice again.  My life is better for knowing him.
